Our guidelines
Part of the mission statement of the German Animal Welfare Federation is to be a reliable, but also a critical partner. For this reason, we carefully examine partnership requests and donations received to ensure that they are compatible with our ethical principles. Any support or cooperation with the German Animal Welfare Federation requires agreement on fundamental ethical principles in the areas of animal welfare, nature conservation and human rights.
Companies that wish to become a partner of the German Animal Welfare Federation are committed to
- to the ideal principles of the German Animal Welfare Federation in accordance with our mission statement.
- to comply with the social and ecological standards laid down in the UN Global Compact and, if applicable, to provide evidence of this in the form of certificates along the entire value chain.
- to comply with the protection of children and young people within the framework of the German Youth Protection Act (JuSchG)
- a credible CSR concept as well as the implementation and monitoring of comprehensible criteria for responsible ecological, social and economic entrepreneurial action throughout the entire business operations.
- to communicate credibly and in line with the idealistic goals of the German Animal Welfare Federation as part of the cooperation with the German Animal Welfare Federation.
- to promote active added value in relation to animal welfare and nature conservation as well as critical awareness towards employees, business partners and customers.
- to the organizational and political independence of the German Animal Welfare Federation. The ability to criticize the partner must always be guaranteed and maintained.
Due to our ethical guidelines and in order to avoid conflicts of interest, we cannot accept financial support from some sectors and business areas and do not offer partnerships.
Exclusion criteria for the acceptance of donations or for cooperation with the German Animal Welfare Federation include
- Companies and corporations that actively carry out or commission animal testing
- Product-related sponsorship for products that have not been produced completely free of animal suffering or do not comply with the guidelines of the German Animal Welfare Federation
- Dealers and processors of animal and plant species or parts and products thereof that are particularly worthy of protection under the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora ( WA=CITES )
- Companies in the:
- Pharmaceutical industry
- Arms and defense industry
- nuclear industry
- Tobacco industry
- Alcohol industry
- Pornographic industry
- Gambling industry
- Companies whose core business activities are associated with significant negative ecological and/or social impacts (e.g. extraction of coal, natural gas, crude oil, gold, diamonds/gemstones)
- Wildlife parks and zoos that do not meet the requirements of the German Animal Welfare Act and the German Animal Welfare Federation 's principles for keeping animals in zoos
- Circus and entertainment companies that work with animals as attractions
