Eight puppies are ready for a new home at the Sonnenhof of the German Animal Welfare Federation in Rottenbuch, Bavaria: Ace, Dot, Fay, Fly, Joy, Liv, Pip and Una are not only sweet-toothed, but are already exploring their surroundings. Sonnenhof is also still looking for suitable people for the puppies' mother, Nayla, who originally comes from abroad.
“The puppies were a little timid in their first few weeks of life, but have now really thawed out and are ready to discover the world. We are now looking for a loving home for the four male and four female puppies. Animal lovers who would like to accompany a little dog on its journey and spend many happy years together are welcome to contact us,” says Hannah Wendt, manager of Sonnenhof. Interested parties should be prepared to visit the puppies at Sonnenhof three times in advance to get to know their potential protégé.
Dog experience is not a mandatory requirement for adoption. “After moving in with their new owners, the little ones should be allowed to gather many impressions and get to know different people, animals, cars, noises, etc. This is called the socialization phase. This is important in the so-called socialization phase of the puppies so that they can later go through life with confidence,” explains vet Wendt.
Sonnenhof is also hoping for a good home for mother dog Nayla, who has already been through a lot in her young life. In Bosnia, Nayla was the victim of an accident in which she severely injured her elbow. Her owners took her to Germany for further medical treatment. After the birth of her puppies, however, Nayla and the little ones were confiscated by the veterinary office and placed in the care of an animal welfare organization before being taken to Sonnenhof.
As an institution of the German Animal Welfare Federation, Sonnenhof has a puppy sanctuary that specializes in just such cases and had therefore offered to help. “Nayla has shown herself to be a very caring and gentle mother during her time with us and has done a very good job. We hope she will soon be able to experience in a new home how wonderful a dog's life can be,” says Wendt.
