Anyone who would like to teach children and young people between the ages of seven and 13 about animal welfare can apply for further training as an animal welfare teacher at www.jugendtierschutz.de/tierschutzlehrer until November 23. In several weekend modules and evening web seminars, participants learn how to raise awareness of animal welfare among young people. Ideally, participants will already have teaching experience or even a connection to animal welfare.
"Animal welfare is an issue that affects us all—especially the younger generations. Unfortunately, however, this important topic is still given too little attention in the curricula of many federal states. This is exactly where we come in: with innovative training for prospective animal welfare teachers, we want to ensure that children and young people develop an awareness of animal protection at an early age," explains Maja Masanneck, head of the Children and Youth Animal Welfare Department at the German Animal Welfare Federation.
The training program is aimed at interested parties such as educational professionals, teachers, or volunteers who work with children and young people and are passionate about instilling the concept of animal welfare in the minds and hearts of young people. The aim of the training is to provide participants with practical knowledge and creative methods so that they can implement animal welfare topics in an exciting, age-appropriate, and lively way in the classroom or in youth work. Participants will learn this knowledge in five intensive classroom modules and two inspiring web seminars. The classroom sessions will take place over five weekends in the Ruhr area, near Wipperfürth. The two web seminars will start in the evening so that participants can continue to integrate them into their everyday lives.
Experts from the fields of animal welfare and education provide valuable insights and share their expertise. With a total of 100 hours of intensive learning and a small, dedicated group of no more than 24 participants, there is plenty of room for questions, discussions, and the exchange of experiences. Those who complete this training course will be well equipped to communicate animal welfare issues competently.
